Educated and Black was founded by two black women that believe in the power of knowledge. Mudiwa and Alicia met in 2003 on the campus of Morgan State in the Business Finance course and instantly became friends. As time went on, they both pursued different careers, but over the years both their love of business and passion for empowering others would lead them to start this brand. Mudiwa's background in education coupled with Alicia's business savvy was the birthplace to the concept behind Educated + Black the brand.

We believe education is not a concept built in public schools, but is essential to empower, uplift, and improve the consciousness of one's own mind. To be self reflective and empowered, to make impact and improve the lives of generations to come. It is our vision to constantly make a statement that reinforcing the power in being black and educated.
